Product FAQ
How do I empty the Fly Cage?
The Fly Cage can hold a whole season of biting flies. There is velcro along the bottom of the cover, you simply release the velcro and shake out the trap at the end of the season.
What types of flies does The Fly Cage catch?
The Fly Cage catches horse flies (tabanus), deer flies (chrysops), greenhead flies, and yellow flies. These are all biting flies that hunt by sight and have the instinct to fly upward when disturbed. It does not target house flies, fruit flies, or gnats.
How quickly will I see results?
Most customers notice a significant reduction in biting flies within 1–2 weeks. Over the course of a full season, the local population drops dramatically as each trapped female is prevented from laying 100–800 eggs.
Is The Fly Cage safe around horses, dogs, and children?
Absolutely. The Fly Cage uses zero chemicals. There are no pesticides, electric elements, or sharp edges. The lure is simply a dark ball — completely non-toxic and inert.
How much area does one trap cover?
One Fly Cage effectively covers approximately half an acre of open ground within line of sight. Place it between the fly source (usually near water) and your activity area.
Does it need electricity or batteries?
No. The Fly Cage is entirely wind-powered. No electricity, batteries, or solar panels needed.
